SINGLE DENTAL IMPLANTS

Sway Dental & Facial Esthetics in Cranford, NJ offers specialized care for single dental implants, combining advanced periodontal expertise, thoughtful planning, patient comfort, and accelerated healing with Bio PRF®.

Implant vs. Crown

A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Once surgically placed, it bonds with the bone to create a stable foundation for a restoration, which is the visible part of the tooth—usually a crown, bridge, or full-arch replacement. Implant placement is the first step, with the restoration often done by your regular dentist.

Single vs. Multiple Dental Implants

A single implant supports one restoration. Even if multiple implants are placed, each supporting one tooth is considered a single implant, unlike All-on-4 or full-arch procedures that use multiple implants to support a complete set of teeth.

What to Expect: The Implant Process in 6 Steps

1. Consultation and digital imaging
We begin with a comprehensive exam and 3D imaging to assess bone quality, gum health, and overall suitability for implant placement.
2. Treatment planning
Dr. Kang will collaborate with your other providers as needed, and then walk you through your personalized plan, including any steps to support the implant site, such as bone grafting if it’s necessary.
3. Site preparation (if needed)
Site preparation (if needed): If an extraction, sinus lift, or graft is required, we will perform that procedure first and allow it to heal with the help of Bio PRF. This could take up to a few months.
4. Implant placement
Implant placement: The titanium implant is precisely placed into the jawbone using guided techniques. Bio PRF is used to enhance healing and stabilize the site. If the location is highly esthetic, as in a top front tooth, we’ll place a temporary crown.
5. Healing and integration
Healing and integration: Over the next few months, your implant integrates with the bone to form a strong foundation. We monitor healing and coordinate timing for the restoration placement with your dentist.
6. Restoration and ongoing care
Restoration and ongoing care: Once healed, you’ll return to your general dentist for the placement of the final crown. We remain available for check-ins and maintenance to ensure long-term success.

Are Single Dental Implants Right for You?
