Looking for a sedation periodontist near you in Union County? At Sway Dental and Facial Esthetics, we see comfort as essential to care—just as important as scheduling and insurance. While procedures may be routine for us, we know they can feel like a big event for patients. That’s why we offer multiple sedation options, tailored to your needs, your procedure, and your preferences. From deep cleanings to full-arch implants, every detail is planned to help you feel calm and supported.
We take an A-to-Z approach, handling everything from prescriptions to follow-up. If sedation is included, we’ll walk you through what to expect, provide medication in advance when needed, and check in afterward to ensure you’re feeling well. It’s all part of the coordinated, start-to-finish care we provide.

As a comprehensive sedation periodontist practice, we help you choose the best level of anesthesia and sedation based on procedure complexity, your anxiety level, and how long you’ll need to sit comfortably.
Options include:
Used for nearly all surgical procedures and deep cleanings, local anesthesia thoroughly numbs the area so you stay comfortable throughout treatment.
Fast-acting and easy to recover from, nitrous oxide is available for cleanings, deep cleanings, and minor surgeries. It can be combined with oral sedation if extra support is needed. By itself, it wears off quickly—no all-day impairment.
Oral sedation uses prescription medication taken the night before and/or morning of your visit. A common choice for dental implant placement and other minor surgeries, it’s mild but effective and safe. It’s especially helpful for patients with dental anxiety. The main drawback: its effects last much of the day, so you’ll need a ride and should avoid work or school afterward.
For complex treatments like full-arch restorations or multiple implants, we partner with a skilled dental anesthesiologist. IV sedation provides a deeply relaxed, “twilight” state—you’ll remain responsive but won’t remember the procedure. This option is safe, closely monitored, and ensures complete comfort. Having a dedicated anesthesiologist means your care is managed with the highest safety standards.
Sedation isn’t only for dental surgery. For facial treatments like microneedling, we use a high-strength topical numbing cream (BLT cream) from a compounding pharmacy. It makes treatments comfortable and surprisingly easy for patients. Paired with the fast recovery of Bio PRF®, it’s one of the reasons patients return again and again.
